- What should we send with an initial enquiry?
- The building location, approximate door count and a few photographs are a useful starting point. Include any specification, required finish, tender deadline or proposed programme you already have. An early enquiry does not need a complete door schedule.
- Can we discuss work in an occupied school or public building?
- Yes. Explain how the building is used, which areas need to remain accessible and any school holiday or closure windows. Access, safeguarding requirements and sequencing should form part of the project discussion before the scope is agreed.
- What if the building is listed or the joinery has specialist requirements?
- Include the listing details and any guidance from your architect or conservation officer. Flag fire-door requirements at the outset too: a decorative restoration should not be treated as evidence of fire performance or a substitute for the relevant specialist assessment and approvals.
- Can you match existing turned sections and timber colour?
- Turned replacements are cut to match the existing profile on our lathes, and colour matching is part of the service. Share photographs and, where available, a sample or specification. Existing timber, its condition and previous treatments all inform the proposed stain and lacquer finish.
- Can we request a portfolio or discuss a site visit?
- Yes. Contact the workshop to request the available project portfolio or discuss a site visit and quotation. Tell us whether you are preparing a tender, gathering options or working towards an agreed programme so the conversation can focus on what you need next.
