Privacy Policy
How we handle the personal information you give us through this website and in the course of business.
Last updated · 14 May 2026
Draft noticeThis is a draft prepared as a starting point for the website rebuild. Spindles Woodturning and Stairs Parts should have this policy reviewed by a solicitor or qualified data-protection adviser before publication, especially if any further third-party tools (marketing, payment processors) are added in future.
Who we are
This privacy policy is for Spindles Woodturning and Stairs Parts, a family wood turning business trading from Unit 3, Crossley Mills, Honley, Holmfirth, West Yorkshire HD9 6PL.
For the purposes of UK GDPR, we are the data controller of any personal data you provide to us. You can contact us at 01484 666 333 or info@spindleswoodturning.com with any privacy-related questions.
What we collect
When you submit an enquiry form on the website, we collect the information you provide: your name, email address, telephone number (if given), the project type you select, and the contents of your message.
When you place an order, we additionally collect the information needed to process and deliver it — typically a delivery address and any specifications provided in support of the order (sketches, photographs, measured drawings).
We do not collect bank details directly. Where payment is required, it is arranged separately by invoice.
Why we collect it
We use the information you provide solely to respond to your enquiry, prepare a quote, and — if you go ahead — make and deliver your order.
We do not use enquiry data for marketing unless you have specifically asked us to (for example by signing up to a future newsletter), and we do not sell or share your data with third parties for marketing purposes.
Lawful basis
We process enquiry data on the basis of legitimate interest — namely responding to a request you have made. We process order data on the basis of contract — to fulfil the order you have placed.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how visitors find and use the website — for example which pages are most popular and roughly where visitors are located. This helps us improve the site.
Google Analytics sets cookies and processes usage data on our behalf. We have enabled IP anonymisation, so your IP address is truncated and not stored in full. We do not use this data to identify you personally, and we do not combine it with the enquiry or order information you provide.
You can opt out of Google Analytics across all websites by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout, or by disabling analytics cookies in your browser settings.
Data retention
Enquiry data is retained for as long as is reasonably necessary to respond to your enquiry and any follow-up. Order data is retained for as long as is required to fulfil the order and to meet any legal record-keeping obligations (typically 6 years for accounting purposes under UK law).
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, to correct it if it is inaccurate, to ask for it to be erased (subject to our legal record-keeping obligations), and to object to or restrict our processing of it.
To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at info@spindleswoodturning.com.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
Updates to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top of the page indicates when it was last revised.
